To Help in Building a Community for Local Comedians… and not go broke or die while trying!

In 2015 Dan Bell was invited to participate in a “garage open mic” at MoonCat Comedy Club. After getting on stage Dan became enamored with the freedom of sharing his perspective on life… funny or not!

After going through some personal challenges he found these MoonCat Comedy Open Mic Nights to be the highlight of his week. The challenge was that MoonCat Comedy kept finding itself homeless… with no established place to hold their weekly open mics.

A long time Remax Real Estate Agent, Dan found himself the owner of a piece of real estate in Downtown DelMar and invited MoonCat Comedy back inside, into his unimproved space with no heat, no running water, and no permit.

When 30 comics start gathering every Monday Night in a largely quiet downtown location people tend to notice. It didn’t take long before the local authorities were kind enough to inform them that what they were doing was ILLEGAL! OOPS!

MoonCat went back into a garage and Dan Belll went into action renovating and opening Dream Big Venues in January 2024!
